Why I Wanted To Jump Into Lagoon – Rescued Woman Confesses


A 58-year-old identified as Taiwo Titilayo Momoh, who was rescued from jumping into the Third Mainland Bridge two weeks ago has explained why she attempted to kill herself.

Reported that the police rescued a woman who tried to jump into the Lagos Lagoon on Third Mainland Bridge some days after a medical doctor, Dr Allwell Orji, reportedly jumped into the same Lagoon.

Mrs Momoh was prevented from jumping into the Lagoon by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos state Police Command.

The 58-year-old textile dealer in Lagos Island disclosed that she was pushed to kill herself in order to put an end to her frustrations and sleepless nights.

She stated that her problem started sometime in 2015 when a Bureau De Change dealer ran away with her N18.7 million she wanted to change to pay her foreign creditors.

”I am owing three Swiss textile dealers.

“My problem started in 2015, when a Bureau De Change dealer ran away with my N18.7 million while trying to change to pay some foreign creditors.

The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni had stated that Momoh was going towards Oworonshoki when she asked the driver of the taxi to stop on the bridge.

The 58-year-old woman was about to jump into the lagoon when a police patrol team saw her and rushed to stop her from taking her life.

“She attempted suicide by attempting to jump into the Lagoon around Oworonshoki inward Mainland on Third Mainland Bridge. Unfortunately for her, she was rescued.
